We discovered the restaurant by searching Open Table for Birmingham restaurants. We could also narrow it down to particular areas within Birmingham, for example Edgbaston restaurants. It was then possible to book a table through Open Table- it was so straight forward and we received email confimation right away.
Buonissimo is an Italian restaurant located in Harborne which was a short taxi ride away from us. When we arrived we were greeted straight away by a friendly member of the staff. He called me by my name before we told him which showed he had been expecting our arrival which was a really sweet touch and made us feel very welcome. We were then guided to a table straight away.
The restaurant had a buzzing atmosphere and you could tell that it was a popular place to dine. Once we were settled, a member of the waiting staff came and took our drinks order. We decided to order a bottle of Est! Est! Est! which is a fruity white wine that promised to be really easy to drink- it certainly was!
We decided we would order some of the brushette to share. We chose the Bruschetta con N`duja e Mozzarella but opted for it without the salami as I'm vegetarian. This was a lovely and was just perfect for an appetiser to share. I loved the presentation too, it looked so fresh and delicious!
arrabbiata sauce. The ingredients were so fresh and the sauce was delicious and tangy! My husband ordered the Involtini di Scamorza e Prosciutto which is Scamorza cheese wrapped in parma ham. It was served on grilled ciabatta on a bed of rocket leaves. My husband said it was absolutely delicious. Just look at the beautiful presentation!
Next it was on to the mains. I ordered the Rotelle al Forno con Spinaci e Ricotta which was a dish of pasta with spinach and ricotta served in a creamy and Parmesan sauce and toasted pine kernels. I really enjoyed the dish. They didn't have any pasta wheels as specified but it was served with penne pasta; I would love to try it with the pasta wheels if I order this dish again.
My husband ordered the Agnolotti al Brasato which was Artisan pasta filled with red wine braised beef. It is cooked in a vegetable brodo and finished with Parmesan cheese. He absolutely loved it and said he would definitely order it again.
To finish we had a Chocolate Soufflé which has a melted chocolate centre. it was served with ice-cream. I love chocolatey puddings so was really happy with this desert.
So there we have it, a wonderful night out at Buonissimo! If I could change one little thing it would be to have more vegetarian and vegan options but we had a great night and will definitely be back! Thank you Buonissimo!
