I recently qualified as a yoga teacher and so have been turning my attention towards comfortable sports clothing to both teach and practice yoga in. When it comes to yoga, comfort is everything as you need to ensure you can stretch, move, twist and bend with ease. You also need to make sure you can relax in the clothing as rest and relaxation is incorporated into most yoga classes. Therefore, yoga clothing needs to be soft, non-restrictive, comfortable and supportive. And so I was delighted when Yvette got in touch to see if I would like to review some of their sports clothing, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to see if I could source everything I required from my yoga wear!
I was able to select two high impact sports bras and two pairs of sports leggings.
High Impact Sports Bras
Finding the right sports bra for me has not been easy in recent years. I need a larger cup size and because of this I really need my sports bra to be a high impact sports bra and very supportive. As a breastfeeding mum, my chest is larger than it used to be and I have found that many sports bras simply don't cater for my current size and shape. I had little success finding one in my local department store as the cup sizes were too small. I also couldn't seem to find the right bra from ordering online so I had to send them all back. Because of this, during my yoga classes I have been wearing a normal bra with supportive cropped-top over the top. This isn't ideal and is certainly not very comfortable either.
Firstly, I tried the Power Cross Back Padded Running Bra from Yvette. This bra has a v shaped neckline, air holes in the front, moisture-wicking fabric and a wide elastic under-band. I found it was easy to get on and off and I really liked the large hook and eye closure at the back which made it easy to do up. I was conscious of choosing a size that would support my cup size which this bra did but I do think I perhaps needed a slightly tighter band size and should have opted down a size. You can't adjust the straps on this which may have made this fit slightly better but it's still extremely comfortable, perhaps the most comfortable sports bra I've ever worn and gives me the shape I wanted (without squashing my chest into uncomfortable shapes like many others do. I think a slightly tighter band for me would have made this an extremely high impact bra with brilliant support, so providing you get your size right, unlike I did, you'll likely find this an exceptional bra for sports. I will certainly be wearing it in my yoga classes. I tried this bra in the rose colour and also in the black colour; they both look really lovely teamed with vest tops and leggings. I love the effect of the crossed straps at the back which is a stylish and unique design. The straps can compliment your yoga outfit, making it look part of your top rather than a bra.
