Remind them of the world out there that’s ready to be explored

The best thing about learning is the amount of knowledge you get to absorb, regardless of whether you’re an adult or a child. Your child has the chance to learn so much for the first time and it can be a really eye-opening experience for them, so encourage them to feel the best of what’s on offer when they go to school.

Ask them what they enjoy exploring the most and lean on those areas. A child is going to feel much more motivated if they’re able to look through what they are actually interested in.

Explore your child’s interests and hobbies
A child can tend to lean on what they’re used to and what they enjoy. Use what your child likes to take part in as a stepping stone towards things they’re struggling with at school.

For example, if your child loves football, then use their love of the sport to make them feel intrigued about the world of physics. The velocity and distance a ball can be kicked relate to science, which is a great way to shoehorn your child into appreciating how best to learn.

Try a tough love approach
Not everyone’s ideal choice would be to force a child into something they’re not keen on doing, but it’s also compulsory that your child attends school or nursery and is learning. Your child would soon shake off the feeling of disliking learning. Teachers in nurseries can help support your child in making learning fun and engaging.
