Water Play
There’s nothing like a water fight to get children up and about. In the summer it’s a nice way to spend quality time with the family, get some fresh air and cool down. Their brains are also kept active as they work tactically to take one another down.
Reading
Reading can be a leisurely activity. Books span such a wide variety of topics and genres that there’s something for everyone. It can be an escapism for some and open children to new worlds. Aside from the fun side of reading, it also keeps the brain active. It teaches children new vocabulary and it gets them to use their imagination. This additional reading can help children in school as it broadens their knowledge and improves their comprehension.
Arts and Crafts
Crafting is fun because there are endless possibilities and different techniques to learn. It gives children the power to take charge and produce something that they can be proud of. It is also a form of expression which is good for the mind.
Baking
Baking is another activity that you can do together. A lot of love and patience goes into making treats. The process is fun as you can watch how substances change with heat and a bit of effort.
Board Games
Cutting down on screen time doesn’t mean cutting out the fun. Board games are equally challenging and exciting to play. Most of them also have an educational value as they help children to work on different skills like problem solving and critical thinking.
