You're Going To Be A Dad! by DaddLiife- A Book Review

I never knew babies hiccupped in the womb! Newborns literally feed all day! Who knew they slept so much?

Just a few of the things my husband exclaimed during my pregnancy and in the first few days and weeks after our son was born. Whilst I had spent every day of my pregnancy reading books about pregnancy and impending motherhood, there didn't seem to be any literature out there that was aimed at fathers. Many of the books I read focused on what to expect from the mother's perspective but gave very little thought to how the father was feeling or what he could expect throughout his partner's pregnancy and the parenting journey to come. And so I was thrilled to be introduced to You're Going to Be A Dad! from DaddiLife; a guide for new dads on pregnancy and the first year of fatherhood!

Daddilife

DaddiLife is the online leading platform for dads. It covers everything from family life, work, lifestyle, health and wellbeing tips. It also covers activities and things to do with the children and handy product reviews. There's also much, much more! It's a place for dads to learn, ask questions and connect with others. DaddiLife has poured its own knowledge as well as that of the DaddiLife community, into this book to create the ultimate guide for dads.

What's wonderful about this book is that everyone is considered; baby, mother and father. The book details in a week by week format, just what mum is experiencing, how baby is growing, changing and developing but it also pays care and attention to the father and how he is feeling. It contains weekly reflections from dads from the same stage of the journey and a handy checklist of things dad can do and prepare for. I loved the dad's reflections that were featured throughout the book, it brings a real human touch to it helping dads to feel less alone in this journey. From a woman's perspective, it's so interesting to read these viewpoints and some of the thoughts and feelings expressed were things I hadn't even considered my partner may have been feeling.

The book even explores the experiences of parents to be from a Covid perspective. Having had a baby myself in the midst of 2020, a guide that would have given me a hint of what to expect in terms of covid restrictions throughout my hospital appointments, scans, labour and postnatal aftercare, would have been worth its weight in gold.

The dads that have been a part of the book are also a part of the DaddiLife community so the helpful advice and support the book provides, doesn't just stop there. Readers can go on to become a part of the DaddiLife community and can receive support, advice, information and friendship, to assist them in the parenting journey!

I loved exploring You're Going To Be A Dad! It's a great guide to the reality of pregnancy and parenting, without being too overwhelming or too black and white. It effectively documents the pregnancy journey and first year of baby's life, informing dads of the realities they can expect as well as the wonderful and lifechanging things that are to come.
