Banishing the boredom with Online Gaming.

Life has significantly changed over the last 18 months as we all navigate our way through the Coronavirus pandemic. For many people, this has meant that they have had a lot more time at home as of late. The lockdown restrictions. lack of opportunities to socialise as well as the requirement to work from home (eradicating that daily commute) has meant that for many of us there has been a surplus of free evenings and weekends. And with that comes the question of how to keep ourselves entertained

Over lockdown I was heavily pregnant and unable to do much more than waddle and potter around the house. It wasn't quite the relaxing, prenatal period I had envisioned (thanks homeschooling!) but whenever I had a rare few minutes, I used to love the excuse to sneak off and play games on my phone! In fact, that became my daily routine, I'd hand the boys over to my husband for twenty minutes or so, so that I could have a lie down, enjoy some baby kicks and wiggles and play a game on my phone.

One of my favourite types of games to play are PacMan inspired games. There is something so addictive about navigating your way through a maze, gobbling treats along the way and avoiding the enemies! I recently discovered a game called PacRat from Plays.org. You have to move the rat through the maze, gobbling cheese whilst avoiding the cats!

Another of my favourite games to play is solitaire. Over lockdown I discovered that there was actually some skill involved, I always thought it was a game solely down to luck. I enjoyed trying to beat my fastest score over lockdown!

Keeping the children's minds active over lockdown was my priority as the schools were closed for such a long time. My youngest absolutely loves numbers and so any maths based games are always a winner with him. I love this number spotting game from Plays.org. It helps children to recognise different numbers!

There are so many fun and exciting games on Plays.org from arcade inspired games, skill games, word games, board and card games to name just a few. There are over a hundred games to choose from and they are free too. It's a site that pays homage to the old Nintendo consoles- definitely talking my language! Not only is there a large selection of games for adults but there are some wonderful entertaining and educational games for children too! What a find!

Did you play online games over lockdown? I'd love to hear which ones in the comments below!
