Turmeric powder is ground from the root of the turmeric plant. It is closely related to ginger is is grown in India and Indonesia. Research shows that turmeric may help reduce inflammation in those with arthritis, can help relieve pain, reduce risk of cancer, aid digestion and improve liver function!
We were kindly sent some Schwarts Turmeric ground powder to use in our cooking. Here's what we created.
Turmeric Vegetable Rice
This dish is flavoured with turmeric to give it a aromatic and spicy flavour. It is a dish packed full of vegetables so you'll be well on your way to reaching your recommended five a day! I used onions, peas, carrots and chick peas but there's a whole host of other vegetables that would compliment the dish. The turmeric gives the dish a bright yellow appearance, perfect for brightening these dull winter days!
